WHAT WE BELIEVE

He's Better Than You Think

Any relationship that leaves a son desperate for his father's attention is dysfunctional — and that's on the father.

We believe God is not that father.

He is not withholding. He is not distant. He is not waiting for you to get it together before He shows up. He is not impressed by your performance or disappointed by your struggle. He is not the version of God that religion handed you — the one you have to earn, manage, or survive.

He is good. Radically, scandalously, relentlessly good. And He is far better than you could ever imagine.

That's not a tagline. That's the whole thing.

Simply Jesus

We believe the clearest picture of God we have ever been given is Jesus.

Not a doctrine about Jesus. Not a system built around Jesus. Jesus himself — the way He touched lepers, ate with outsiders, wept at graves, and welcomed everyone religion had already given up on.

Jesus is not just the way to God. Jesus is what God looks like. He is perfect theology.

If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus. If you want to know how God feels about you, look at how Jesus treated people. If you want to know what God thinks about your life, look at the cross — and then look at the empty tomb.

Everything we are as a church starts here.

The God Who Is Love — Father, Son, and Spirit

We believe God is Trinity — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — not as a doctrine to memorize, but as a reality to live from.

Before creation. Before time. Before any of us existed — God was already a community of love. Father loving Son. Son loving Father. Spirit as the living bond of that love. This is who God is at His core. Not a judge looking for reasons to condemn. Not a distant deity waiting to be appeased. A Father, overflowing with love, who made everything — including you — to share in that life.

This changes everything about how you see yourself. You were not made to perform for God. You were made to belong to Him. And in Jesus, that belonging has been thrown wide open.

Invited Into Union

We believe the gospel is an invitation into the life of God Himself.

In Jesus, God didn't just forgive us from a distance — He drew near. He took on flesh, walked among us, died, rose, and ascended — and in doing so, opened the way for every human being to know the Father the way Jesus knows Him. Intimately. Fully. Without shame.

Union with Christ is not a theological concept reserved for scholars. It is the lived reality of everyone who says yes to Jesus. You are in Him. He is in you. And from that place — not striving toward it, but living from it — everything changes.

Your identity is not built on your obedience. It's built on His. Your standing before God is not based on your consistency. It's based on His faithfulness. Your access to the Father is not earned through your effort. It was secured by His love.

You are not a servant trying to earn favor. You are a son or daughter who already has it.

A God Who Restores

Our name is not an accident.

We believe restoration is not just something God does — it is who He is. From the first pages of Scripture to the last, God's movement has always been toward reconciliation. Toward wholeness. Toward bringing people, relationships, and creation itself back to what it was always meant to be.

He does not discard what is broken. He does not give up on what is lost. He is not in the business of condemnation — He is in the business of redemption. Every story of return in Scripture, every healing, every resurrection — they are all telling the same story. God moves toward. God restores. God makes new.

At Restoration City, we don't just believe this theologically. We try to live it practically — as a community that is safe for people in every season. The put-together and the falling apart. The certain and the searching. The ones who have been away a long time and aren't sure they're welcome back.

You are. He has been moving toward you the whole time.

Filled With His Fullness

We believe in the full gift of the Holy Spirit — and we don't want to live without Him.

Paul prayed that we would be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. That's not a small prayer. That's an invitation into something that goes beyond information about God — into actual encounter with Him. Transformation. Healing. The deep, settled knowing that you are loved.

We believe the Holy Spirit is not a doctrine — He is a Person. Active. Present. Moving. And He is available to every believer, not just the spiritually elite.

At Restoration City, we create space for His presence because presence heals what information alone cannot. We don't chase experiences. We pursue the Person — and when He shows up, things change.

We value His presence deeply, but not out of desperation. Desperation is what happens when a child isn't sure their father is coming. We don't worship a father like that. We gather because He is already here — and we want more of what He's already given.

A New Covenant Way of Living

We believe the era of law, striving, and performance is over.

Jesus didn't come to help you try harder. He came to bring you home — into a new covenant life defined not by what you do for God, but by what He has already done for you.

This doesn't mean anything goes. It means everything flows — from love, from grace, from the life of the Spirit inside you. The fruit of a life rooted in Jesus isn't produced by willpower. It grows naturally when you know who you are and Whose you are.

You are not a servant trying to earn favor. You are a son or daughter living from it.

A Safe Place to Heal — and to Grow

We believe the church should be the safest place on earth.

Restoration City exists for the whole-hearted family who wants their kids raised knowing they are loved. For the couple who wants more than a Sunday routine — who wants a real community rooted in something real. For the person who has been hurt by religion and isn't sure they trust church anymore. For the one with questions they were told not to ask.

You don't have to come in already convinced. You don't have to have it figured out. You just have to show up — and we'll meet you there.

We don't have a polished version of Jesus to sell you. We have the real one — and He has never once turned away someone who came to Him honest.

RC Kids — Known, Loved, and Free

We believe children don't need to be convinced that God loves them. They need an environment where they can experience it.

Before the systems. Before the rules. Before anyone tells them what they have to do to be accepted — we want every kid at Restoration City to know one thing deeply: God is good, He made them on purpose, and He is crazy about them.

RC Kids is not a babysitting program. It's a community where children encounter the love of the Father in a way that is age-appropriate, Spirit-filled, and free from religious pressure. Jesus said the Kingdom belongs to children. We take that seriously.

What We Hold To

The Trinity — God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. A community of love before creation ever began. Everything flows from this.

The Incarnation — Jesus is fully God and fully human. In Him, heaven and earth are permanently joined.

Jesus as Perfect Theology — If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus. He is the clearest, fullest revelation of the Father.

Union with Christ — In Jesus, you are invited into the life of God. This is the foundation of your identity.

The New Covenant — The age of law and striving is over. We live from grace, not toward it.

The Holy Spirit — God is present, active, and moving. We believe in the fullness of the Spirit — being filled to all the fullness of God.

The Resurrection — Death did not get the last word. Jesus did. And His word is life.

The Scriptures — We read the whole Bible through the lens of Jesus. He is the point of all of it.

You Belong Here

We're a family — imperfect, in process, and convinced that God is better than we thought yesterday.

We meet Sundays at 10:15AM in Kannapolis, NC — just outside Charlotte. Families are welcome. Kids are welcome. Questions are welcome. You are welcome.

Come and see.
